Homestead OS · Last updated July 7, 2026
Homestead OS (“the app”) helps you design and manage your property, track tasks, inventory, plantings, harvests, and observations, and optionally monitor sensor devices. This policy explains what data we handle and how.
What we collect
- Account information — your name (optional) and email address. Your password is stored only as a securely hashed value, never in plain text.
- Content you create — the properties, zones, assets, tasks, inventory, plantings, harvests, and observations you enter.
- Device telemetry (optional) — if you connect sensor devices, their readings (e.g. soil moisture, temperature) are stored against your account.
- Camera photos (plant checkup) — when you use the plant-health checkup, a photo is analyzed to generate a hint. The photo is processed transiently and is not stored.
How we use it
We use your data solely to provide the app’s features to you. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising or third-party tracking.
Where it's stored
Your data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database used to run the app. Access is restricted to the running application. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your account and all properties, zones, tasks, inventory, plantings, harvests, observations, and connected devices. This cannot be undone.
Children
Homestead OS is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
